About the Artist: Grace Lihn
Hi! I'm a watercolor artist and ceramicist based in Mountain View, California.
For over a decade, I've traveled California's coast and beyond to paint plein air, capturing moments where light transforms the ordinary into something sublime – fog embracing the Santa Cruz Mountains, sunset reflecting on San Gregorio's shoreline, a wave catching light just before it breaks.
Using watercolor's fluid luminosity, I create art that invites viewers to pause and appreciate the quiet wonder of our natural world. My work has been exhibited in solo and group shows, including "Love Letters to the Ocean" at The Yard Coffee and the Pacific Art League 104th Anniversary Exhibit, juried by Veronica Roberts from Stanford's Cantor Arts Center.
I hold a BSc in Conservation & Resource Studies from UC Berkeley and am pursuing an MBA in Sustainability, bringing together my love for nature's beauty with my commitment to protecting it.
In our hurried, screen-filled lives, I hope my artwork offers a moment of stillness and a reminder that beauty exists in the ordinary if we're willing to notice it.
Each piece is an invitation to slow down and reconnect with nature. I want viewers to feel the serenity I find by the ocean, to carry that peace with them when they return to their daily lives.
